I would use spray oven cleaner let it sit for about 5 or 10 min. Depending on how bad the oven is and then take a rag a scrub brush and a paint scraper and clean everything for the racks I soak mine in the bath tube with the oven cleaner.

The easiest way I have ever found to clean oven racks is to out the racks in a black trash bag then spray them with oven çleaner. Place the bag in the sun for several hours. The burned on food should wipe right off. Easy least!!!

Put all oven racks out on the lawn at night. By the next morning while its still damp bring them in. The baked on crud will just about fall off. This also works for the nasty barbecue racks.

Warm the oven to 200, then shut off. Put a dish of Ammonia in. Leave a few hours, over nite is better. Baking soda paste can be used on the door.

Agreeing with Judy! Seems to work best for us. Hose off the cleaner in an area which is NOT accessible by children or pets!

I do the same as littlegamcracke. Warm the oven and put a cup of ammonia, leave overnight. The only thing I do different is put my racks in a sealed plastic bag with a cup of ammonia and in the morning everything comes right off.

For standard cleaning, use a soapy sponge and hot water to wipe the racks. For stubborn messes, soak oven racks in hot water, dish soap, and a couple scoops of baking soda. Let the racks soak in this mixture for 15 to 30 minutes before scrubbing clean with a soft sponge.

  • A self-cleaning cycle will do much better for ceramic or porcelain-coated oven racks, but you should make sure to remove any remaining residue as soon as the cycle is over.
