A/C stopped working

I have the outside unit and the inside unit is in a closet in my hallway. The unit outside seems to be running correctly. The inside unit kicks on and you can feel a small amt of air coming out of the vents, but the blower isn't kicking on. Also there is frost on the tubes on the inside unit.

sounds like it could be low on Freon.

Vacuum it out, put in a clean filter, then add Freon. Check it out for leaks, and set your thermostat a little higher. It should never be below 78 degrees unless it is 95 degrees out side. (Or lower). Ours used to do the same thing. Use fans to circulate the air, ceiling fans should be made to blow the hot air up to the ceiling. That will also help. Then you can reverse the fan, to blow down, in the winter.

Call a professional. If you don't it could cost you more. Save yourself some time and worry

Call repair person, the blower motor should be blowing if unit is kicked in! Also sounds to be low on freon, that should be checked while you have serviceman there.

Always check your filter first.....when I first got central air, I did not know it needed to be changed every month and the dang thing looked like it had a quilt on it. Had made the unit actually freeze up with ice. Also, sometimes they install flappers in the ducts where they connect to the main duct....maybe those have wiggled loose and closed?!?

In Canada, summer comes short and hot, I had the same problem this year after buying a new home and not familiar with the pleasure of an AC home. Firstly turn it off for 12 hrs and let the frost melt, it's working too hard. Our repair guy said the freon had leaked out and our outside unit had to be "recharged" . Cost about $200.00 but worth it. Your electricity bill will be that much if your unit never shuts off. Gook luck!

Don't run it until you disconnect it and give it a good cleaning first
