Linen closet

My house was built without a linen closet. I desperately need one. Can anyone give me any ideas of how to build something?

Don't Build it from Scratch! New Wood is just plain expensive, so Just Go to a Flea Mkt. Find a Large Vintage Shelving Unit ... Paint or Stain it ... Add Vintage Shutters . . . Vintage Door/Cabinet knobs, then Cute Contact Paper on the Shelves . . . Add Large Baskets/Bins on top for Extra Storage ... Voila ! Enjoy ... : )

Where are there any decent flea markets close to Buford GA?

Agree with 4-robinsnest. You could use an armoire, bookcase or any type of shelving unit. Check out Craiglist as well.

Why not go for a traditional French linen cupboard. They are gorgeous, but you have to keep your sheets neatly folded.

If you are close to an IKEA store why not pop in there as they have lots of cheap shelving units that you can use as a start up point like the Ivar system it has the basic shelving and you can build it to the height and width that you need and then screw it into the walls so that it is sold and then with some beading around the unit and a door in place it will look like its a built in unit :-) and its cheaper than building it from scratch :-) Here is their website but you might want to select one of the IKEA sites closer to you :-) http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/categories/departments/living_room/11703/

our place did not come with a linen cabinet either so we went to the hardware store and bought one that we had to put together. We have bought other cabinets from the restore and discount store to and used what we already had so we can store things. You may also check garage sales to see if you can buy a cabinet from someone else

Maybe you can "borrow" space from another room or closet ... Most interior walls are 4" thick and you can cut out the drywall between the studs for built-in shelving. This would be narrow so you'd likely have to roll linens and stack on shelves. But it might work ... or you can use the space for toiletries that you'd otherwise store under a bathroom sink, and put your linens in their place.

For many years, I have had 2 old pie safes that I have used for everything, including a linen cabinet, pantry, craft storage, office cabinet storage, entry hall for keys-hats- gloves. Find an old one and paint, paint, paint. You really cant go wrong.
