Try researching behr.com they have a color wheel to look at. That might give you the inspiration.

I did my entire apartment in a concrete/clay grey. It sets off the furniture and art work so well! Try and go a bit darker than you might think, you may be surprised. My issue was how much blue and how much brown to use inthe mix. It ended up more tan than blue made the bluish tint come out better than going too much blue in the mix.

I would suggest going to one of the local stores that carry paint such as home depot or lowes and get some paint samples in the range of gray you are thinking of. Then paint a large square and observe how your natural and evening light change it. Paint is amazingly different with different light. That was how I found the shade of gray I painted a room with, and I still love it a couple of years later. It took me awhile, but once I found it. Plus if you have a fabric or other item that you like the shade of, take it with you - most stores can color match from a sample.

Try using Project Color or other app like it, it's a wonderful tool. We just painted our living room, using Glidden Universal Grey. It looks great! Re-painted the baseboards and trim bright white and I could not be happier with the result.
