Beautiful project, I tried to cut the spoon handles with both garden clippers and scissors and the spoons cracked each time I cut one. Can you tell me the best way the cut the spoon handles with them cracking. Our senior citizen group is interested in making one. Thank you.

rexxxa I'm assuming you are you talking about plastic spoons for the many crafts done with them. Most of the tutorials I've seen call for using every day scissors to cut the handle off. Maybe you are cutting too close to the bowl of the spoon causing it to crack? One tutorial did say she found it easier to use wire cutters.

It works better with those wire cutters used for making jewelry, don't try to cut too close to the spoon bowl and it won't crack, I do it quite frequently.

I believe you are supposed to heat the handles of the spoons a bit and then cut them off. heated, like sit in hot water for a few minutes,or lightly warmed over a candle first. Supposed to cut much easier.Look up a plastic spoon project on youtube, that should help.

A small hack saw for metal will do the trick

I used a small hacksaw for pvc pipes for sprinklers. Goes thru like butter. Got at home Depot for about $10.
