How durable is bamboo flooring? Will it function well in an area that gets snow?

You're best bet is to check the type you are looking at Janka rating. Here's an example of the scale. Most bamboo is harder than oak. We just put in stand bamboo in one of our guest rooms. As with all wood flooring, you'll need to give it time to acclimate to the temperature of the room it will be installed in, before it's installed. http://pizazzfloors.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Janka_Ratings2.jpg

All wood flooring regardless of its material will not stand up to moisture.Sooner or later it will do a lot of damage.

@Not if it's taken care of properly Janet. We have hardwood floors throughout our home. Our main entry is marble and the back entry is ceramic. We have rugs for wiping wet/dirty feet before walking on the wood. My family knows to remove their shoes if they are too wet or muddy. Also proper cleaning of any wood or bamboo flooring is key to keeping them looking new for decades to come.
