Do you want to paint them? Are there shelves inside?

Change the hardware to match ur existing hardware. (Hopefully not that same, lol) There are several colors for Chalkboard paint, U could paint the inlets to match the other color of ur kitchen, if that is ur style. Or remove the inlet and put etched or colored glass in that space. It's kind of hard not knowing what ur other cabinets and space look like.

It would help to see pictures of your kitchen to give ideas that would fit with its decor. I can share what I did with a similar, though glass door cabinet. http://www.hometalk.com/diy/-3007335 Here's a couple other examples of what basic house trim can do to upgrade a piece of furniture. http://www.hometalk.com/diy/-3047502 http://www.hometalk.com/diy/-3094145

i had an old garage cupboard that I put fabric in the inserts (glued in and then coated with Modge Podge) You could match that to your colors in the space. Easy and cheerful!

I bought a similar cabinet for a small pantry in my kitchen I wanted to replace the upper door panels with chicken wire but decided against that because I'd have to keep my pantry items neat & tidy (chicken wire is very see thru). I then decided on reproduction tin panels. Found out quick they were WAY to expensive for me. Homedepot.com has faux tin panels! They are made of plastic! They com in a gray color but a little too fake looking for me. I simply spray painted them with a faux metal colored paint. Easy to install because they are so lightweight. Or you could do fabric panels. No one believes my panels are plastic! They come with an old timey design on them (like a pressed metal design). Good luck!!

You can fabric the raised inserts, or paint to match your kitchen. I love mirrors...you can use Mylar and glue on fronts. Mylar is mirrored flexible material and looks great! Mosaic is another option. Glass, tile, paper, buttons, and crockery can all be broken in pieces and glued on. Wallpaper is another option...can find gorgeous patterns.

I meant to include a pic of my cabinet with the faux tin panels so here you go. It's still a bit dull (overall feel of it, not the finish) so I will be replacing the handles/pulls on both the upper and lower cabinets. As I stated above, these "pressed tin" panels are plastic from Home Depot (And inexpensive! ) I used thin 2 sided tape along the opening on the inside of the door to hold the panels in place (they weigh almost nothing). I did not use anything more permanent, like glue, because I want it to be interchangeable. A little mini curtain rod at top & bottom with some fabric pulled tight between the rods is next! I already have the rods.

I would paint the cabinet to match or complement your kitchen cabinets. In the inset area of the door panels you could use chalk board paint on one side for messages or shopping list and the other one you could use magnet paint to hang magnetic spice jars, which would lesson the space taken in cabinets.

I love these. I would paint them in chalk paint and wax them to age them and add new pulls. Great bones!

What is a Canadian tire pantry cupboard? Is it the way they are made? Or is it just a name for a type of cupboard? I would paint them also, by the way!
