I have some kitchen cabinets I want to paint

I painted them with oil paint and now want to change the color. Oil is too bothersome. If I use oil-based primer on them, can't I paint them with latex? They'll be painted with gloss.

Kilz Completely is an oil based primer that can be used under latex paint. http://www.kilz.com/MCContent/MC_Product/KILZ/KILZ_TDS/Complete_TDS.pdf

  @Z Where this sheet says "Properly Prepared Glossy Surfaces†" does that mean I have to sand the surface, I wonder? I'd rather not have to sand anything -- just clean the surface well to make sure there's no dirt or oily stuff on them.

  @Louise you should be able to use a liquid sandpaper product such as the one linked below. For some reason I like sanding so I didn't think of it until asked. http://www.kleanstrip.com/product/easy-liquid-sander-deglosser

  @Louise, that's funny you mentioned your other hated chore. I love to vacuum too! I know, I'm weird, but to me they are both SO rewarding. Sanding because it such a great stress reliever and vacuuming because, even when a room is otherwise spotless, it doesn't look good until it's vacuumed.

Hi Louise! You can use Velvet Finishes which is a water-based latex. You would use the deglossing product that is a spray on/wipe off to prepare. The finish of Velvet Finishes is a flatter finish, not glossy though. You can check out the website at www.velvetfinishes.com and there is a youtube video you can watch about the process. Super easy.
