How would you update this table? We have to use this in a shelter home. The sides fold down for storage.

If there is no issue on funding, perhaps a nice 6x6 tile would change the look.Or if thats not you had in mind try researching pinterest.

@Janet Pizaro agree, I have one just like it and have considered tile. The top white panels will lift off. Mike

You can paint. Make sure you get spray paint for formica. It's supposed to bond without scratches. There are so many beautifully stenciled tables, now a days.

If you tile it, don't put food on it without a trivet or cutting board.

Tile would make it heavy and may interfere with the folding process. I think there are lots of faux leather products you could use on it, painting the wooden edges to update it.

You could laminate the top. There are many great looking patterns that look like granite etc. This would not add a lot of weight and it's a pretty easy process.

Do the paper bag floor. I have covered a badly scratched table with it. Stained and varnish. It is show stopper beautiful. Don't tile it. It will make it way to heavy to be utilitarian.

If you want a granite look, checkout www.gianigranite.com. It's a paint, so it will not add weight to your table. I have used it on my counters and it is very durable.
