What in the world has eaten my Clothilde Soupert rose?

Little green caterpillars, about 3/4" long, dark head--ate all the foliage within a couple of days!!!

    rose sawfly aka rose slug

insecticidal soap kills them quick once noticed

look for them in late April too

I did see them earlier in the year, but they didn't totally strip the bushes then. I would have thought they'd be gone with the colder weather!

I used BT for a green caterpillar eating my rose buds in the spring

the rose is Zephirine Drouhin and the Bt works too. I don't grow this rose around any food crops and it is the only thing I spray

Don't forget that rose sawflies are not caterpillars, so B.t. won't kill them.

well do I have the same thing, it eats into the flower buds right when they are fat and ready to burst into bloom. BT has worked, so what else would it be?
