How to remove rust from a bath tub?

I have a bath tub that has a chip in the enamel and it is rusting. Wondering if there was a way to patch it instead of replacing it.

Yes. Home improvement stores sell a repair kit.I would recommend removing the rust with CLR first.

I second Janet's suggestion. I patched a chipped out area in an enamel sink this way. You may have to patch with white, then use a colored version to cover that -- I've only been able to get white patching material.

CLR or vinegar with baking soda put on as a paste works. Then paint over it with enamel paint made for tubs and sinks that you can buy at Home Depot or Lowes. This is easiest if your tub is white or almond. If not and it is vintage, you will need to order the paint color.

I would clean the spot with CLR first but back in the day I used nail polish I did a couple of coats and let it dry hours in between coats.
