Ideas wanted!

I recently took this nice and sturdy headboard off of a friends hands. It looked like a good project till I noticed it's not real wood. Its kind of dated but I wanted to make it a project. Any ideas would be appreciated!

You can modernize the piece with perhaps a metallic spray paint.

~ I had the same problem come up a few months ago. Being a texture freak, I spyed the crackle paint at HD, but it was a little to expensive. So, I crinkled tissue paper & tore it in uneven pieces. Then used Mod Podge to glue to headboard in a random pattern. After drying, I painted it black & finished it with a satin poly. It is so cool...looks like leather.

~ I painted mine a black semi, but a satin poly & it still shimmers when the lite hits the texture. I just love messy projects....they are better than professional therapy, IMHO! Have fun
