I have seen wing back chairs that people have painted on this site and i really love the idea to try this myself rather than attempting to reupholster a chair I have BUT does it have to be Annie Slone paint? Can I use other makes as long as they are chalk paint?

Ive never done this before but I am under the impression all chalk paints are the same.I don't think it matters but perhaps go on pinterest

Thank you Janet. I'm going to try the underside of the cushion first to see how it goes.

I haven't jumped on the AS band wagon yet. It's pricey. From what I have read on Hometalk and Pinterest, you should be able to use any chalk paint - even homemade.

Hi Charlotte that's what I thought. Just wanted to get someone else to agree with me so I don't make a real hash of it. Many thanks for your reply.

Hi Brenda thanks for your reply. I have some other brands of chalk paint so I am going to give it a go. I loved painting up chest of drawers and wooden chairs back in the 60's but as I'm now a disabled pensioner, I lack the ability and confidence like I had back then, however I am addicted to this site and have already done a couple of old items, even though it takes me a lot longer now. Painting an old wing back chair will be a first time experience for me but I'm really looking forward to doing it. I will post some pictures if it turns out okay. 😯

Can't wait to see it! Waverly has a chalk paint as well that I used on a project. So much cheaper than the others. I found it at Walmart!
