Moisture has formed on top of freshly painted dresser top

A friend has sanded and primed a dresser. She then painted the top of it with a cabinet paint and has since had moisture appearing on top of the paint. My only thought was humidity. Any other possibilities? Thanks.

Did she perhaps paint the unit when it was to hot outside? Temperature is a very big concern when painting.

@Janet Pizaro It has been hot here lately but I've never had a problem with moisture on paint like this before. She is working on this in a garage. Humidity is usually an issue here and that was my only thought. I've had things take a LONG time to dry but never moisture on top of the paint. Thanks.

Maybe I would call the brand of the paint. Ive done that before when I had issues.

Humidity would have been my first thought too. If she can't bring it inside to finish, maybe bringing a fan, or two, to the garage would help it dry and stay dry. Don't have them directed at the piece being painted as that could blow debris on the wet paint, but near the door to pull out excess moisture.

Maybe the piece was wet when she painted it or the piece got wet from humidity

I too agree that humidity is the culprit, along with the extreme heat. Also if she is using old left over paint and it has not been stored in a climate control area the paint it shouldn't be used. I would highly recommend that she bring the piece inside after giving it a thorough sanding. Even when finishing it inside you have to understand that humidity and temperature will affect the drying time. Make sure to put on two coats of base primer (tinted the color you are going to paint the piece), and then you should be able to only apply one coat of paint depending on the color you are going to use.

linda you are not correct. humidity plays a big factor in or out when painting.

If you read my post, I said that temperature and humidity is an issue inside as well.
