Mr.

Reeves requested a step by step on a recent fescue sod installation. Unfortunately I don't have any "before" pics-but we were basically looking at a neglected yard-mostly weeds, some unwanted shrubs and lots of ivy in a high canopy shade situation. Homeowner wanted as much grass as possible so we removed all the unwanted shrubs-left azaleas. After a six zone irrigation system was installed the yard was rough graded with the bobcat-we then brought in 15 yards of a soil mix (50% fill-50% planting mix) and spread that out over the areas to be sodded. The pics are of the day we installed the beautiful fescue sod brought out of Tennessee by Buck Jones Nursery and delivered right on time at 7 am.

I'm in Central Texas, very shady yard, don't want to water because of the area drought (remember the massive wild fires in Bastrop a couple of years ago?) I am wanting the Buffalo grass A&M has developed, but having trouble finding seeds or turf and hear that it needs more sun that I might have. I've got an herb growing that a book on natural yards says is good, but it still doesn't provide that "grass" look. Any suggestions?
