As far as pricing your pieces, there are a few different things to consider: the cost of ...»
materials, the amount of time and skill required, and what the demand and competition is.

If it's cheap or free reclaimed lumber and takes you less than 30 minutes to make, then you can charge less than if it's expensive hardwood and takes you hours. If there are a lot of people selling comparable pieces or not a lot of demand, you might need to drop your prices. I always calculate a bare minimum I need to charge for a piece for me to come out ahead and an amount I think the piece is worth and then list the price somewhere in between and adjust if necessary.

How to Clean Suede

I brought out my summer sandals and found that the suede insoles were very soiled looking. See below. ...»

I remembered my mother saying that you could clean suede with sandpaper. I thought, 'Wow, that's weird' and it stuck in my head. So I tried it!

Guess what? It WORKS!!

Has anyone ever tried this?

I think it will work on any brushed leather (suede)... but be careful when trying this... try an inconspicuous place first. In my case, it didn't matter because I was ready to throw these sandals out. So whether I ruined them, it didn't matter. But it worked!!! YAY!

Thanks for viewing. Linda

Outdoor Light Transformation

Ahhh, the magic of spray paint! A can of Oil Rubbed Bronze saved these brass outdoor lights from the landfill. And now I love something I didn't think was lovable.
