Gardening: What is this? Is it a weed or a type of spinach

I found this growing in my carrot bed this spring, I let it grow but I still haven't figured out what it is. I shared my vegetable garden with my neighbor last season and I know he planted something late last summer. The simple resolution would be to ask him but he moved. Anyone with suggestions would be much appreciated,

Gardening: I have a plant that has pink in the middle and yellow around sides.

These plants get a flower first then a large leaved tall plant, beautiful red colors running thru the middle if the green leaf. I starts out with a pink flower and yellow flowers around the sides then next to it it shuts up these tall leaves.

  • This is the dresser. I have had it more than 20 years. I have a matching taller one, but I want to use that for something else.

Painting: Can I use wall paint on old, finished wooden furniture?

I have an old laquered dresser and an old wooden twin bed that I want to repaint for my son's 3rd birthday.

I bought some teal and lime paint from the mis-tint rack at Lowe's, intending on using it on the walls. I also wanted to use it on the furniture so it all matches, but I want to make sure that it is going to stick. I have read about sanding and priming it first, but I would love to know if there is any way I can get around this step without buying any other special paint? ...»

I will try to post a pic later when I get home of the bed. I dont have one right now.

I agree with Douglas, it's a Crinum and should be very hardy in your area.

Gardening: What is this??

It is growing beside the road, at my neighbors house. It is growing up into a tree. I think its kind of pretty .. but would like to know what it is first, before I go poking around in it.

Gardening: What is this plant?

I bought these little plants a few years ago in early spring. The leaves were a little bit meaty, but not as thick as a succulent. Over the spring and summer the plants grew huge, with long vine-y parts, but the leaves stayed more or less the same size - no more than an inch or two long. At the very peak of summer they did have a little red flower that came out, one or two of them on each plant. It looked almost like a tiny red daisy.

Anyway, I brought them inside in the fall and ...»

they did not like it. I'd love to be able to buy some new ones, if only I knew what they were!

Thanks in advance for any ideas!
