  • Succulent Gardens are easy to create and super easy to care for.
  • We used PVC pipe and cut it at an angle
  • Spray painted with stone paint
  • Fill with pea gravel for drainage and soil. Then planted the succulents.
  • Some of the plants were also planted in the ground.
  • Since there were some questions about Indoor Succulent Gardens, I thought I would add a photo of the one we created for indoors. They do great indoors.

You need to check on each individual plant for hardiness.

  • My take on the garden hose wreath.
  • Window boxes on the fence.
  • A gift from my son, who knows my fetish oh so well.
  • Hostas in containers.
  • The iron work on the fence is a bit of an old bench. I moved this chair into this area and added a bicycle basket planter on the fence.
  • My tower has grown by one more level this year and continues to be one of my favorite elements. 1
  • I have such a fetish for galvanized stuff.
  • My neighbors had to remove four towering pines this spring..changing the quality of light.
  • Hangers on the shed with spray painted pots.
  • Wax begonias under planting boxwoods in patio pots.
  • A bit of silliness.
  • I love geraniums.
  • I love container gardening, especially when I can put together unusual combinations of greenery.
  • Just another view of one of two thrifted planters...my husband dreams of huge ceramic planters and I dream of affording them!
  • Hose wreath number two--yep, I am so cheap, er thrifty, that I cut one hose in two.
  • A moment of silence for the three trees we lost this winter. Hello roses.
  • So, if you have an old aquarium stand laying about, I have a suggestion for you.

Beginning to Look Like Spring...

It sure feels like my garden is off to a very slow start. What a Schizophrenic start we have had to the growing season. In just a few short weeks we have had snow, 100 degree temperatures, and a bit of a cold snap.

Painting: I knew I should have taken a different route home.

But, I didn't. I drove right past the vintage shop and turned around and yes, I went in the shop. Lo and behold, this is what I walked out with. Never mind that I haven't even started on ...»
the vintage chaise or the wonderful crate! But tell me, would you have left this in the store? Now comes the question.....do I leave it as is or shall I paint? I'm thinking I'll use in the lanai. It's a pretty sturdy piece and vintage for sure. I would say 40s or 50s. I think it looks good as is, but wanted to get some opinions. Thanks.

  • I didn't have a specific idea in mind when I rescued these containers from the trash. I just thought they were cute!
  • While looking through the junk drawer, I realized that I had a lot of small items that needed a home.
  • I hot glued these bright little circular labels (found at Michael's) to the top of the containers, and admired my new little organizers!

The house I bought two winters ago has wisteria growing up the front porch support. I hate it ...»
and I love it. I cut the wild trendles about every three weeks (they are up to 4ft long in that span) only to keep them out of my gutters and from taking over the porch - wisteria is very invasive! I also cut off the blooms when they are spent, but leave the pods that appear in the late summer until I'm picking them off the ground. I have no idea if any of this has anything to do with it blooming, but it has "played" :) for me every year. Regretfully (sort of), I must cut it down today as I'm getting the house painted next week. I haven't decided if i will leave the stump in the ground and let it re-grow or not - for fear of it eventually destroying my wooden porch....and then will it bloom again??

    • Taken last week...see the trendles reaching for something to grab on to?
