Use Your Old Coffee Grounds in the Garden.

Are you a big coffee drinker? If you are, you will have used coffee grounds. Don't throw them away...used them in the garden.

There are many ways to use them. Camellias, hydrangeas, and roses are all nitrogen loving plants so the coffee grounds help.

The grounds are also a great deterrent for slugs and snails around hostas and other plants that the pests love.

Use Your Left Over Potato Water in the Garden.

Don't throw out that left over potato water. Put it to use in the garden. Be sure it is unsalted (salted water will hurt your plants.)

Pour it on the garden near your plants.Starchy potato water will spur the release of plant nutrients in the soil so it makes a great addition. (plants like starch better than your figure does!)

  • The finished bookcase media wall. I left the middle section open for a large flat screen t.v. There's a hole in the countertop towards the wall for cords, and an electrical outlet accessible in the middle cabinet.
  • All trimmed, painted, and lights installed.
  • I used stock wall cabinets (12" deep) from Home Depot as lower cabinets, so I had to build a base for them. I was reusing some cabinets from a previous media wall attempt that didn't turn out so great, which is why they're painted.

  • We took some of our previously dried assorted peppers and crushed them up in a bag. Jalapeño, cayenne and other peppers.
  • After crushing up the peppers, dump them into a boiling pot of water.
  • After boiling the crushed up peppers for maybe 15-20 minutes, pour the solution into a bowl and strain out the crushed peppers. We used a paper towel because it was handy. Put it over the bowl and pour slowly.
