  • rotting on the bottom corner, and the door is an old interior door that you have to pull into pieces to get open
  • I added windows, door with window, 1x2's to give it a look of separate boards, added the front porch and some concrete with the look of flagstone

  • We currently use LED battery operated lights in our planters right outside our front door. During the day you can barely notice them and at night they add a lovely glow that can't be missed. A steal at Christmaslightsetc.com for $8.99
  • Nothing is more relaxing than lounging in the backyard on cool summer evenings with a glass of wine and a romantic glow!
  • Lining gazebos and free standing structures is easy. Any size light will do although I recommend C7 or C9 bulbs - bigger is brighter! Great for parties, dinners, and simple down time.
  • Rope light makes great borders for gardens and flower beds.

  • I used concrete blocks as the support between the railroad ties. 1
  • I screwed the decking boards into the railroad ties on each side.

Easy Deck With Concrete Blocks and Railroad Ties

I needed to cover up a shameful space in my backyard. And, provide another area for seating. I wanted it to be cheap, easy and fast. This method of building a deck was perfect! The only tool needed was a drill.
