Repurposing & Upcycling: Painting a bookshelf to look distressed and old....

Can anyone please advice me on the best way to paint a wooden bookshelf(it is red at the moment....wants to be white) so that it looks old and distressed....can you reccomend any paints or methods etc? please let me know...thank you

It looks like the bank owned home we bought has been painted right over the stucco. Big chips are starting to come off and it looks pretty ugly. How do you re stucco, is it a DIY project or for professionals only?
