Gardening: What is this plant called?

I bought this plant a month ago and it was real small. I lost the tag and now I don't know the name of it and it;s growing fast. It came from a plant sale where they sell unusual outdoor plants.

Gardening: I want to overseed a dying lawn

The front lawn I had enough $$ to lay good local new sod. I don't have the money to do the back...besides the front has inground sprinklers not so much the back.

Last year I tried all of the hints and helps and did everything they asked and NOTHING! This year I did my own thing...I want to take wagers on if you think it will take or not..

Seed is Scott's Hardy grass seed (given to me by someone locally who has used it and worked perfectly) ...»

  • You can see here where i've started digging up the stuff, but see behind the bare spot where it stretches back for maybe 15 more feet or more?
  • Here's another view of where I've dug up some, but it stretches several feet behind the forsythia.

  • My home's patio is pretty, but it lacks privacy. (The fence behind it separates my home's yard from a playground.)

Outdoor Living: How to Get Privacy for a Patio and a Chain Link Fence

Hi! A chain link fence separates my home's backyard from a busy playground. I've planted schip laurels for privacy, but my home's backyard still has next to no privacy. I used to have a tarp on the fence, but it didn't last long. Is there something else I can do to provide privacy to our yard and patio? We are not allowed to plant vines on the fence.

Another inexpensive idea is bamboo reed fencing . You just tie them to the chain link fence. It is easy to do, and you can do it yourself in a couple of hours/days. It does not 100% obscure the view, so you do not have the feeling of being in a prison court yard. That buys you some time, till the plants others proposed have grown enough to give you more privacy. It looks chic, is affordable AND environment friendly!

Outdoor Living: Cheapest way to make a large retaining wall

I have almost 1/3 of an acre backyard that I will be re-establishing soon, and one of the projects will be a 2-3 ft tall retaining wall that will be approx. 25 feet in length - it will be very visible! What are some attractive and less costly ideas? (I'm putting tiers into a sloped yard hoping to correct the drainage problems.) the concrete is gone and the sand will be mixed in with new top soil and mulch. The wall will follow the far curve and extend out 10-15 ft.

Has anyone ever tried making cement stones and pavers using molds? We were thinking these ...»
might make interesting "faux" stackstones and the photos look impressive. We've been told they can be applied to almost any surface, so since we have a huge amount of wall to cover (all decorative) that appeals to us. We don't like the look of the popular wall stones that all look alike; we'd like to create something that looks like natural rock and not the faux rocks we have seen for sale in home improvement stores. So, has anyone ever made or used these molds? Thanks.
