  • all you need is an old jar, some paint, soil & succulents!

Grow Succulents in Upcycled Jar

I took a pasta sauce jar, a peanut butter jar, and a salsa jar and primed them with Rustoleum spray, then painted them with Rustoleum aqua spray. I added the footprint because it was a ...»
mother's day project.

Just put some rocks at the bottle for drainage, then add cactus soil, then separate and arrange your suculents and fill in the empty spots with more soil. Water lightly. Super easy!

These were all gifts, but for the one I kept I didn't even paint it, I liked the look of the clear glass with the rocks and soil showing.

  • This is an easy to make yard decoration that sparkles in the sunlight
  • These are the Plastic Mirror Stars, found at Michaels, that inspired the project
  • 3 different sized Terracotta pots
  • Base coat the pots, inside & out, with white acrylic paint to ensure that the paint color used is true
  • 2 coats of paint, inside & out, on each pot
  • Spray with 2 light coats of Krylon clear coat so that the 'chime' can be used outdoors.
  • Using Kwik Seal Clear Caulk to 'glue' on rhinestone stars makes them hold up to summer showers
  • Use nylon cord, tri-beads, & wooden beads to space the 3 pots
  • Tie the cord to an 'S' hook to hang outside

  • An old ironing board that I recently painted white makes a great out door vignette on the patio.
  • I plan to drill a small hole in the ironing board top to slip the hanger wire through so it won't blow off.
  • I used a laundry basket shaped container for the Rose Star Calibrachoa.

Pressing Garden Matters

I recently painted an old wooden ironing board to use on my patio in a vignette. #Summerstyle

Project We Did to Cover the Tree Roots in Our Yard.

Old tires we cleaned and painted, old tricycle painted, an old pot painted. It was hard mowing the grass with so many tree roots right there. A little work and it's beautiful.

straight as the kids knock them about! HA! We too have a root problem. I have large pine islands that we put in to use as a place to rake leaves into! We got tired of raking and then hauling them off. Now all we do is blow them into the pine islands.
