  • Here is the chair after a lot of TLC! I used ASCP, distressed the edges, and finished with Annie Sloan clear wax on the painted sections and semi-gloss poly on the seat.
  • The chair back had beautiful wood veneer, but was badly chipping.
  • We repaired the chair with wood putty and sanded smooth after it dried.
  • I then painted the chair (the the exception of the seat) using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White. I also used the inside (or inverse) of a bird stencil and painted around it, removing the stencil while the paint was still wet.

and I didn't want to leave them as-is. So we compromised with a little chalk paint and inverse stenciling! #AnnieSloanChalkPaint #FurnitureMakeover

Outdoor Siesta Time

When the sun is shining and the weather is warmer, we leave the interior of our home and spend almost all our time outside. We have a great patio space joined by gardens and ponds to make ...»
a relaxing area for entertaining and even sleeping.

With lots of wicker, vintage finds and of course plants this area makes for great siestas and parties if we are so inclined.

Come on by for so many more photos of this area (I got a little camera crazy this year)

  • There's only one flower spike in about five iris plants in my garden.
  • It's gorgeous, but lonely
  • Love the colour variations between the upper and lower petals. Plus the nectar stripes are so pretty.

Gardening: One Lonely Iris

Last year, I planted a number of iris cuttings from a friend. The only one to bloom has just opened. They are in full sun and I planted them shallow as I've done before successfully. What could be wrong?
