Brian's deck

The right way to build a deck.
Completed for a client. The old deck was wobbly, half rotten and just darn right ugly. Demo began with cutting out decking and sectioning up the framing. In this case the old deck posts were merely set "on the ground" needless to say the ends were rotting away and the deck was starting to get shorter with each passing year.
Once all of the demo was complete new concrete footers were installed. J bolts were installed in the concrete and stand off post bases installed. The framing lumber is all pressure treated for longevity and the Decking and rail caps are Brazilian Redwood. A tropical hardwood much like Ipe. Railing posts are redwood as are the balusters. When spring returns and the pressure treated lumber has had some time to dry out it will be stained a dark color to blend more with the homes color.
What do you think, Is this project worthy of a thumbs up?

Jennifer G on Jan 10, 2014That's beautiful! We need to re-do our back yard's covered 'porch' but we are waiting for warmer weather. Not being a CO native, this 9 months of winter thing takes some getting used to LOL! Glad you are not daunted by working in freezing temps - gives me hope I can too some day :)

Jennifer G on Jan 11, 2014@ KMS Woodworks Yes, I agree the wind makes a huge difference between a bit chilly to bone freezing cold. :)
