  • A nice touch to this project that utilized 500,000 pounds of stone to build a pond, wetland filter, waterfalls, fire pit, pavilion and stone steps to a remote seating/viewing area under the pine beside the cascading water
  • Adding a copper colored standing seam roof to the pavilion. You can see the bridge to the left as well as the wood burning fire pit in the foreground.
  • Timber Frame Pavilion with gas firepit/table on bi level Trex deck over steel 'Elevations' substructure.
The stone pillars are built to match the home's entryway pillars as well as the retaining walls on the grounds and around the pond
  • Stained pine tongue and grove decking make a warm overhead inside the pavilion.
  • The primary falls of the water feature present to the pavilion area.
  • A great place to reflect and enjoy at the end of the day!

Pond Bridge

This stacked stone bridge has concealed step lights in the soldier course of chopped block as well as recessed dowinlighting on the sides over the water

Ponds & Water Features: OK HomeTalkers What Would You Do With this Hole if It Were in Your Yard?

We have this here pond in our yard. Our thought has always been to get in up and running again ... but want reasonable and easy. As it stands I plan to clean it up, repair cracks, possibly parge coat the concrete and paint with a pool grade paint. I would like to figure if there is someway to consider fish, but as I understand it fishies don't like the lime in the concrete. I am open to any and all of your thoughts. thank you. ~jb

  • this is the near the start of the depression that I call a sinkhole.
  • another shot, of the middle
  • this is from the down hill end looking uphill.

Home Maintenance & Repairs: sinkhole in backyard

We had a sinkhole develop a few years ago, and with all the rain we have been getting, now have another much larger hole. as you may see from the photos, it is about 25 feet long and 10 ...»
to 12 inches deep at its deepest point. Who can I call to get this fixed and to prevent it from happening again? just beyond the end of the uphill point is a swing set/fort that my kids play on.

How about another Plant ID?

I'm joining in on the #PlantID game started by Shelley @ Sow & Dipity. The different is, I don't actually know the answer, so we'll need an expert to give the final word.

I got this plant from work. It's really beautiful, the bulbs are red, but when it flowers there are purple petals inside. Anyone?

  • Tip # 1 Location: Locate your pond close to the house so that it can be enjoyed from both inside and outside the home.
  • Tip #2 use a pond kit: Aquascape offers a top of the line pond kit that includes all the components necessary to build your pond. Be sure to place your skimmer at the lowest point on one end and your waterfall spillway opposite end.
  • Tip #3 ecosystem: provide a balanced ecosystem for your pond with the addition of plants and fish. Aquatic plants will take the nutrients out of the water that algae compete for and the fish will fertilize the plants!
  • Tip #4 Add a stream and waterfall: A small shallow stream is perfect for birds to come and get a drink and take a bath. Be sure to angle the waterfall towards the viewing area.
  • Tip #5 Fish Cave: Create an area where the fish can go if they are frightened or stressed out.
  • Tip #6 Lighting: The addition of low voltage led lighting will extend your enjoyment time. They will turn on and off automatically and are very cost efficient to run.
