About Me:

I am a married mother of three who works full time. I love trying to tap into my creative juices (those same juices I used to swim in). It's even better when I pull something off I am proud of. Luckily, my husband is very handy with tools and (usually) sees the value in my re-designs. We moved to KY from FL in 2010 and have begun trying to renovate our 1994 home with a tiny (more like zero) budget.

Favorite area of home improvement:

Refurbishing old to look new.

Ikea Billy Bookcase Hack

Hacked a set of Ikea Billy Bookcases to create a built in bookcase. We removed the standard white backs and replaced them with aged cedar (oxidized with vinegar). Then all the bookcases were trimmed out and painted white.

space so I figured why not give this space a "sense of purpose". I'm so embarassed of the before, but the after makes up for it. For more pictures visit my blog.

Painting: I need some inspiration!

My least favorite thing to do is style bookcases (or anything) cause I always feel I need to BUY something. I really do not want to buy but use my own stuff. Any ideas? Also want to paint ...»
this plate rack, either just the back on the inside or maybe all over and the back have a darker shade? I have some tissue paper in there right now? Not sure I want to do that cause If I want to change it down the road that would make it harder. I need it to POP against this wall! Any suggestions would be appreciated!!
