  • Here's another pic of the border next to the patio, it isn't finished yet, but this gives you an idea of how pretty it is with the rose bushes in bloom. 1
  • These are the Zinnias that I started from seed
  • The Zinnias are an amazing miracle to me, as I planted them from tiny, paper thin seeds, & they grew into these magnificant flowers! They are very low maintenence, they require very little water, they are lovely.
  • I found this unususal tri colored butterfly bush. I didn't like the colors pictured on the tag, which are nothing like the actual colors on this beautiful bush! Lavendar, dark purple & white, I'm so glad I brought this home! 1
  • The Trumpet Vine groeing over the shed. I'm hoping it will attract humingbirds to the yard. Hor more pics please visit my page Flowers in Bloom, here is the link.

  • Here is the view of the front of the yard. I built this flower bed by myself. This weekend I added a clear coat to the wood, fresh mulch & new white rock. Small changes can make a big difference. 11
  • Here is another view showing the swing. We love to sit out here, relax & watch the different butterflies that visit everyday. 2
  • Here is the patio that I installed by mself. The blocks of arregated stone were very heavy! I love to sit out here & have coffee on the weekend mornings. We are surrounded by flower beds on the patio.I'm getting new furniture next year 4
  • I planted these rose bushes 3 years ago, to use as a border & for privacy. They bloom from April until November. In the next pic is the flower bed I planted in front of these roses. 5
  • This is the flower bed that I created in front of the rose bushes. Although not in bloom now, I planted 2 kinds of Monarda, & a Liatris that is a Monarch magnet. It blooms in late summer. There was nothing here when I started. 4
  • This is on the side of the shed in front of the rose bushes. I planted Monarda, Milkweed, & a Trumpet Vine. 4
  • Here is the view on 7/8/12. I've added slowly, adding a little each paycheck. I added more Phlox, this time. I bought small plants that looked even better than the larger plants for more money!
  • This is the Buzz Petite lavendar Butterfly Bush. I love this beauty, it's a butterfly magnet! The blooms have changed color, now they are lighter in color. 1
  • There are Old Fashioned Bleeding Heart in between the bird bath & the rose bushes. They're new plants, not in bloom right now. They'll grow much larger. I added a picture of the blooms below.
  • Another updated photo taken 7/9/12
  • Here's a pic of the Clematis "President" in bloom w/the butterfly bush in the background.
  • A close up of the Clematis, it blooms like this all summer long. 1
  • Here is a view on the side of the shed, pictured is Bee Balm & Milkweed
  • 7/13/12 My garden is a work in progress, here I added more Phlox, so it's filled out a little more in the front. Every paycheck I add something new to make it more beautiful.
  • These are the blooms from the Old Fashioned Bleeding Hearts Bush.
I hope you enjoyed the tour of the lovely spaces I created in my yard!
  • 7/13/12 Here's a different view
  • e.g. My New Deck
  • Here is a view from the swing, Galliardia, Coreospis & Salvia, with Coneflower in the back 1
  • Salvia & Coreospis
  • Coreospis & Salvia
  • I tried to carry the eye & create depth with the Galliardia, also in this pic is Salvia & Coreospis
  • e.g. My New Deck
  • The Knock Out Roses
  • A delicate butterfly enjoying the nectar from a Salvia plant 1
  • 7/13/12 This taken in the early morning hours. I added more Phlox on the left, & I have a small patch of Zinnias just starting to bloom that I started from seed. 1

The yard I created at my mobile home. The main focal point is the butterfly garden.

I replaced brown grass & mud with a raised flower bed, patio & flower beds. Nearly every plant benefits the butterfly, as it is either a nectar or host plant. I added a walkway and white ...»
rocks for a clean look & to make it really pop. All of the hard work is worth it to me when I get compliments from friends & neighbors passing by.

How to refurbish tub drain

This isn't terribly exciting, but I need some advice on re-finishing this tub drain. It is funky! For some reason the tub refinishers we hired didn't address it. Thanks!

We had a similar issue recently - the tub and shower faucets are oil rubbed bronze - and I ...»
bought a small can of oil based "oil rubbed bronze" by rustoleum and it looks great. If you are using it a lot it may chip off and you'll have to paint again - but I suppose you could also seal it with something.... We did this about a year ago in both the tub and the shower drains. We never use the bathtub so it's fine - but the shower I can see is chipping a bit.
