Design & Décor: What can I do with this ceiling?

The old, quality paneling came from my husband's great aunt's house, which is slated to be destroyed. What can I do with the plain, boring sheetrock ceiling to complement the walls, yet not darken the room any more? Oh, and the door needs something, too. It's the same white as the ceiling.

Now a days they are painting the ceiling colors so you might want to look into that!

Getting Rid of that "Boy Bathroom Smell"

Ask Anna explains how using 3 household ingredients can get rid of that smell that mysteriously appears in a boys bathroom. Here is the readers question: Our front bathroom is pretty much used by our 2 boys. My problem is that I cannot get rid of the "boy bathroom smell." I scrubbed the bathroom last week, and have made a point to wipe things down and have them do it as well. I even replaced the toilet seats. It makes me want to go in there with a pressure washer full of bleach! Any ...»
suggestions on how to get rid of the smell?? I always worry guests can smell it too unless I turn the wax burner on.

Check out Ask Anna for the full answer for a fresh smelling bathroom!

I get a gallon bottle of Odor Ban from Sam's Club and clean everything with it. It makes ...»
everything smelling nice and has an eucalyptus scent and kills germs you mix 3 to 1 and last a long time. A plus is that they give you a spray container attached to gallon bottle that is ready to go and you re-use it. I use this on my kitchen and bathroom floors and saves a lot of money in long run. It cost around $10 for the gallon bottle. lots of uses

You could also put their names on the front of the jars.

  • Repair a Leaky Moen Faucet in Less Than 15 Minutes

Eliminate Leaking Bathroom Faucets in Less Than 15 Minutes

Seeing water drip from my bath faucet made me take action. Not to mention the wastefulness of seeing water just go down the drain and paying higher water bills. You might think it's hard ...»
to fix this type of leak but it's not bad.

And you can do it yourself in less than 15 minutes with just a pair of channel locks.

Of course it will depend on the type of faucet you have but in most cases the handles can be removed by hand or by unfastening a set screw that holds them in place. You'll need a set of hex wrenches to unfasten set screws.

Modern day faucets have cartridges and you can find replacements at hardware stores for $10-15. The cartridge seals tend to break down over time and allow water to drip from the faucet. Some faucets have rubber seats and springs that can be replaced, too. You'll have to look at your particular setup.

My latest blog post tackles how to replace a Moen bathroom faucet cartridge that went bad. If you want to learn how to do this yourself and save money click on this link http://www.homerepairtutor.com/repair-leaky-....

Do you have additional bathroom faucet repair or replacement tips you'd like to share with the Hometalk community? If so leave a comment :)

A Drawer transformed into an over the Toilet Cabinet

So I had all these drawers lying around from an old waterbed frame compliments from my neighbor who had purchase a new bed and wanted to know if I would like to use the wood and drawers ...»
for any of my projects...and me the JUNK Queen never passes up on an opportunity for free wood LOL!

So I thought to myself, SELF... what can I make out of these drawers?

Then I got to thinking that I was needing a new cabinet to go over the toilet in the bathroom to hold the toilet paper and other bathroom accessories.

So from one of the drawers this is what I made...

You Can see the whole tutorial here...

Has anyone used Restore?

Hi everyone, I'm going to strip the floor boards of a porch and thought I would prime/paint it until I saw this product. It has a rough texture and claims to last 3x longer than paint. Has anyone used Restore? If so, what are your opinions? Thanks. www.homerepairtutor.com

will take care of that too. It comes in an array of colors which I like.
