  • We started out with these 3 Ball Jars. They would shortly become the light fixtures above our kitchen island! 4

Showers vs. Jetted Tub

Luxury showers quickly are taking over the space that was once devoted for the whirlpool/ jetted tub. What is your vote? Spacious Shower OR Relaxing tub?

Very nice spacious shower, but I would prefer a bathtub for two. :)

Painting: Any ideas on how to texture existing exterior painted block walls here in Orlando FL?

Blocks are painted and in good shape but I want to add lite texture to simulate the stucco look.

Old weathered door turned coffee table

Hey Hometalkers! I wanted to share this coffee table that my handy husband created for me using some furniture grade wood, spindle legs, an old wooden door and some copper piping. My ...»
neighbor had this weathered old exterior door out on the curb for trash pickup. I stopped and asked if we could have it, and he hand delivered it to my basement! My husband cut it in half, framed it out and added legs, then added the copper pipe as an accent underneath. I absolutely love the way this table turned out. It's sturdy and is perfect for my son to race his cars around the "tracks". Thanks for letting me share! :) http://unskinnyboppy.blogspot.com/2011/08...

My Pergola on my backyard patio

We installed an aluminum white pergola kit ordered from Lowes to our back patio when we lost our two patio shade trees. We love how it is maintenance free and gives us all the shade we need.

  • The painted vinyl was set in place and easily cut to the exact size in the shape that we needed. 6
  • The back side of the vinyl was primed and base coated. The image of the design was projected on to the surface and traced with chalk.
  • It was laid out on the floor where the design was painted starting from the inside and working outward. 1

Hand painted floor cloth . . . on a budget.

used the back side of a piece of linoleum vinyl flooring that we got as a remnant. My first custom floor cloth project was done this way almost 15 years ago. With quality products, they last for years.

Penny floors

Saw this kitchen floor made by mosaic artist Amanda Edwards using pennies. Seems like a great idea. I was actually thinking of using this idea for a backsplash, but still a lot to consider.
