A Creative Staircase Makeover

It was a bit more work than I thought it would be but in the end, all of the time and backaches was well worth it. I love my stais now! To read about the entire transformation please visit my post http://www.lisascreativedesigns.com/lisascot...

Painting: Using a kit to paint a countertop.

We need to replace our countertops in our kitchen but because we are having to replace our roof right now, we cannot afford granite or some other solid surface countertop. We have seen ...»
those kits in the big box stores that have the special paint for countertops. We are wondering if any of you have experience with this sort of thing.

Hi, Marilyn. I used a kit from Giani Granite almost 3 years ago on my kitchen countertops. I ...»
went from mauve-ish laminate to a granite look and have gotten so many compliments. I was excited after I got the primer on! I am so pleased with the results and it's holding up great. I used the last of the primer and top coat along with some acrylic paints and did my bathroom countertop last March. Turned out great, too. I ordered my kit online but I have since seen these in bigger Wal-Marts in a few colors. Also, I think they're sold in some paint stores. Check out the website and they have a facebook page. Hope this helps.

Painting: How To Match Paint Color to Object?

I'm trying to match some paint colors from one of my guitars. I really like how the oranges and browns work with the purple behind it. Anyone got a way to do this?

Thanks!

  • Here's what it looks like before I try to put the mattress back on the box spring.
  • Putting the velcro on the box spring and underside of the bedskirt.
  • Do this at the edge of the box spring and bedskirt. I used three per box spring.
  • Look! The mattress is on and the bedskirt hasn't moved!
  • Voila! It didn't move.

Progress Report

I tried painting just the cabinet box green and leaving the doors cream (both with the same brown glaze) but that looked a little weird to me. So, I painted the frames of the doors green ...»
and that seemed perfect to me. One down, eight more to go. Good thing I don't mind painting :-) I also sponge painted the backsplash. It's in lighter shades of my accent wall behind the china hutch. In the end I decided that all my stencils were too busy. For now, I'll just put them aside until I find the perfect project for them.

I love the look! I peeked at your blog, I was wondering if you added the door to your lower ...»
cabinet? I have a corner that is practically inaccessible and have thought about adding a door on the backside.
