Favorite area of home improvement:

I absolutely love painting! It is amazing what a little paint can do to a room, a piece of furniture, or the exterior of a home. It can create a total transformation and is one of the least expensive ways to do it!

Mason Jar Crafts {DIY Chalkboard Tags}

We had a ton of mason jar lids leftover from when we switched out our drinking glasses to mason jars in the kitchen. Like, I am talking almost 30 lids. I didn't want to throw them away, ...»
so I started thinking about what I could do with them. One of my first thoughts was to make Christmas tree ornaments but it was March at the time and that was not the project I wanted to get started on. So, I kept brainstorming and then realized I needed more chalkboard labels for a few baskets and bins throughout our home. BINGO! Instead of purchasing wood circles from the craft store like I had planned, I made them with the mason jar lids instead. Today I am going to show you how I completed another mason jar crafts making DIY chalkboard tags!

    Thank you Sherrie! Yes, this was ...»
    actually a pretty fast project that looks wonderful considering how cost friendly it was. I did notice that there are not a lot of options for smaller windows or odd shaped windows, so I agree that making your own shades is easiest. Thanks for stopping by!

  • Light and airy with a splash of blue, we remodeled the kitchen with a lot of DIY projects which kept the cost to a minimal!
  • Here's the BEFORE shot of the kitchen...not a bad kitchen, just not our style.
  • We were very careful when spending money on this project, doing lots of the work ourselves and shopping with not only the 'look' in mind but also the price tag.
  • The one splurge was the farm sink and the beautiful faucet. Saving money in other areas allowed us to just go ahead and get the sink and faucet we really wanted! (No regrets on this choice at all!)

Giving a standard bathroom cabinet a furniture look.

With home values continuing to head in the wrong direction, I didn't want to spend money on a new vanity. Giving our standard vanity a furniture look seemed like a good compromise. I painted the toe kick black to give the illusion of space underneath. Added legs and designed and cut pieces to go between the legs. I like a french country look, but for a modern look, you could simplify the design. http://plumdoodles.com/2012/04/16/giving-a-s...
