Gardening: Is early March best time to use systemic insecticide for lace bugs on azaleas? Soap sprays didn't work well last year.

I just looked at the the UGA article and cannot believe they do not warn against systemic ...»
insecticides. Remember systemics make every part of the plant poison and there is very good evidence that they are responsible for the bee colony collapse. Here is just a general article, but google systemic insecticides and you will never use them again. http://www.gardensalive.com/article.asp?ai=9...

Design & Décor: redoing bathroom

This is how my bathroom turned out. The vanity was a stained golden oak , now I need advice on what to do with the door and door frame on the bath side. The entire house woodwork is golden oak. Should I leave it stained on the bathside or should I paint it white like the vanity ??

Paint it. I had the same dilemma in my old house in KS when we remodeled the kitchen. We ...»
painted it and loved it and sold that house in record time. Not an issue for resale when it fits the space.

  • A broad view of this shrub. 1
  • A detail view of the flower.

Gardening: Anyone recognize this spring flowering shrub? Something a little different for a splash of spring color.

This is not a forsythia, but another spring flowering deciduous shrub that puts on a brilliant show of yellow flowers. Let's see who else knows it.

I have a really tough spot between me and my neighbor's house. They have a bradford pear ...»
planted about a foot from the property line and it is like a brick wall. This plant thrives in this spot. Shady and dry and still blooms, have 2 over there.

Is it just me, or has "hometalk" changed......

When I was introduced to and began posting on this site, it was a DIYer, contractor and designer conversation board. It now seems, with all due respect, to have turned into a ...»
"hobby-craft' discussion board. I can't recall the last time a contractor offered a suggestion to a DIYer technical question. I discussed this a few other members of "hometalk" and they do agree with me.

Sorry if I offended anyone, but I gave up on Decoupouge over 30 years ago.Just had to vent and voice my feelings.

Stay well

Does anyone have any advice on building a shelf similar to this picture? Is it easy? Will it be cheaper than purchasing one?

It was my own fault that I didn't put my dog outside when we left for a few hours. Poor baby couldn't wait for us to get home. He had to go. Now I have a yellow stain. I've tried to get stain out but with no luck. Help.
