  • I started by removing the covers and washing them.
  • I labeled the "fluff" taken from the back cushions so I wouldn't get confused when it was time to re-stuff.
  • I used this quilt batting ($9.99 at Walmart) to beef up the cushions.
  • I simply trimmed the batting and wrapped it around the bottom cushions to boost their fluff-ability. Yep. That's the technical term. ;)
  • I put the covers back on the new beefed-up cushions and now my couch looks as good as new.

If you want to use them as plant stands you could cut the legs shorter (too short to use as ...»
chairs) and put a pot on top of it. But wood glue can go a long way into making them more sturdy. But once the wood breaks its a moot point to glue it.

I have a vintage iron chaise white with some rust. and a glass top table to match. Do I paint it? If so what color? I'm torn and need help with the decision. I'm open for all suggestions, it's in good shape with nice wheels

  • I have 2 of these...treasure found hutch pieces! I have them anchored in corners..opposite side the window..Should I paint them? What color? or leave it!?

The other hutch was 25.00! 2 different places..but similar! They are both in that outdated look..of the normal . 5
  • The dining area showing the 2nd hutch in the corner opposite the other flanking the window..gives u the idea of the pub table,a Tuscan feel...any ideas to paint or not , if so what color? 1

I think just doing the back wall might make it look brighter and more hip? LOL A whitewash of ...»
that chalk paint? I have one myself but its a hand me down from my Mom and Grandma so its not going anyplace. There are lots of memories stored in that hutch. its not going to be painted either. I did oil it with some Swedish oil and it brought the natural glow back to the wood. But it was an old oiled piece to begin with not varnished. If you like the wood you could try that. To be honest the shabby look could go out of style tomorrow but the wood will stay forever.

  • Take your light and check it out closely as some are different. 1
  • By the bulb you should see some small screws
  • Remove the screws and SLOWLY pull the pieces apart. You will then see a normal, everyday, single AA battery. Yep, that is what gets charged by the sun during the day so that it glows at night! 2
  • Change the battery out with a new one and...Let there be light! 2
  • Now, if you have a different type of light, say like this one from WalMart, with the globe on top, it gets even easier to replace the battery.
  • Kathe With An E~DIY Fix Your Solar Lights
Simply pull the stake out and you will see this on the globe end.
  • One single screw. Leave the three screws by the bulb alone.
  • And there is your battery. Change it out, put the screw back in and you are done!

IT WORKS!!!! Dina sometimes there is corrosion inside that needs to be cleaned off. i found a ...»
bit of oil on the metal parts will help. And sometimes its not that battery that is the reason why they aren't working. If the tiny wires get detached or are touching and shorting it out it won't work either. I have some dragonfly rechargeable lights that one of the wires came loose and no matter what I did it will not work. Sigh.

  • The garden gate was made from pallets too. The arbor was made from my childrens' old sandbox. We cut the large boards down to build the arbor.

  • Only use actual metal cans. The cardboard ones will not hold up in the weather.
  • Remove the bottom with a can opener and take off the label.
  • Paint your can up and seal with a water proof sealant.
  • Cut the top of the can in half and hot glue each half onto each of the ends of the can.
  • Add two tiny nail holes to the top. String through twine and tie in a knot.
  • Fill with food, hang in a tree, and watch the birdies come to eat.
