  • Create an entire wall unit in a few hours! This shelf was customized by painting it out and adding reclaimed lumber supports in the back.
  • Is room tight? Go right up to the ceiling with your storage! Or toys...
  • All you need to make this 'chore' chorelss is a cordless drill and the right bit. I love how everything is predrilled and ready to roll.
  • A kit is also avail to extend your shelves right to your ceiling! LOVE that.

A 'no builder experience needed' shelf kit you will LOVE

I admit, I'm addicted to the Ikea GORM shelving kits. All the pieces come predrilled, they are totally adjustable, and you can buy only what you need. I've used this system 4 ways in my ...»
own home thus far... and am going for a 5th. Yes, addiction at it's best. (see blog post for all)

Best part of all? You can become a builder in one afternoon! All you need is a drill... and a trip to Ikea. Have a cinnamon bun for me when there please?

Modern pendant lights to Farmhouse lights with some solder and paint

Hate your modern pendant lights? You can make them over by adding a storm collar (found in the gas furnace parts section at the hardware store) and using some high heat copper spray paint.

Keep a Toilet Clean (much longer)

Have a toilet that seems to get dirty very fast despite thorough cleaning? Try cleaning the siphon jets. ...»

1.) Clean the underside of the rim with a nylon brush and homemade cleaning solution of vinegar, baking soda, and water.

2.) Shut off the water supply and flush the toilet to empty the tank.

3.) Block off the siphon jets with duct tape.

4.) Pour 1 gallon of vinegar in the tank and flush the toilet. Let it sit over night.

5.) In the morning remove the tape and open the water supply. Flush water through once to clear out any remaining vinegar.

DIY Laundry Detergent Recipe -- Really Works!

I made laundry detergent from washing soda, baking soda, Borax, and castile soap. Here's the recipe: Now you need to measure with a tin can (just a regular tin can, like the kind that ...»
corn comes in). In a large container with a tight-fitting lid, mix 3 cans of Borax, 3 cans of baking soda, 3 cans of washing soda, and an 8 ounce bottle of castile soap. I found that stirring didn't work very well, so I put the lid on the container and shook it up really well.

I have been really pleased with this detergent. Dissolved in hot water (it is not as good in cold water), it actually removed stains and oils, and it makes the laundry smell really clean and fresh.
