What is it!?!?

Does anyone know what this flower is? It was the last one left at my favorite nursery. They told me the name and I immediately forgot!

Wanted to share this beautiful ginger lily with you.

It is Hedychium coronarium and came from Tony Avent's Plant Delights Nursery near Raleigh. This gorgeous lily started blooming over the weekend. It not only blooms in the fall, but its fragrance is like honey suckle. With the frangrant osmanthus and plants like this filling the landscape with wonderful scents in our area, I'm trying to spend as extra amount of time out of doors.

Everything you'd ever want to know about cork flooring

Before committing to cork floors, we did a ton of research. Because we couldn't find the resource we wanted, we created our own to share with others. You can get all the info on our blog at http://www.thissortaoldlife.com/2011/10/14/e...

I used to work at a orange box store (no names given) as a flooring specialist. I could have ...»
sold this stuff all day. It has many perks and warranties due to its ability to keep subfloor temps away and cushion as well as be water proof. They have it in the dance floor of the local Walmarts under the clothing. Alot of traffic there and heavy loads. They seem impervious to destruction so big, heavy dogs are not a problem with their nails.

Landscaping & Gardening and Outdoor Living

I am trying to figure out what to do with this 100 year old carriage house in my backyard. It has a huge room with a huge sliding door on each side. I've included pictures of the house, ...»
the rest of my backyard and the inside of the carriage house (please excuse the mess....I don't know what to do with all of this outdoor stuff). I am thinking some kind of covered eating area or hot tub destination...but it is rather far from the house. There are lights and electricity in all rooms of the house and off the main room is another room that has cabinets and and another room that is a horse stall. It is an awesome place but I need assistance on how to incorporate it into my landscaping! I'm in Alabama by the way. Help???!!!

Hardware Store Barn Door

We decided we wanted a barn door to separate our doorless master bathroom, and started researching hardware online. Everything was upwards of hundreds of dollars, and way out of our price ...»
range. So my husband got creative and thought, "Why not use a trolley rail?" So we headed down to Lowe's and bought a six foot long trolley rail for about $25, and decided which hanging kit we liked (the hanger with 9 bolts) which cost $30. We built a door out of tongue and groove paneling, stained it blue (my husband has been dying to stain something blue) then later on painted it white (wife wins again!) The entire project (hardware + building our own door) cost $140, which is a fraction of the cost of the fancy hardware! For a full tutorial on how to build your own, you can check out my blog post http://www.killerbdesigns.com/blue-barn-door....

Attaching mosaic glass or ceramic to glass window panes??

Hi, I need advice. I'd like to create my own mosaic (glass or ceramic) on the NINE individual 7"x12" window panes in our front door. Has anyone done this? ...»

We were thinking of placing the mosaic (glued) to a board then screwing the board to the INSIDE side of the door, so you'd see the mosaic on the outside of the door. Each 7"x12" window section would be measured out on the board, so only those parts get the mosaic.

I think gluing the mosaic directly to the windows would look strange from the outside because of the glue --? Right? That's why I didn't mention that idea first...

Make sense? Bit hard to explain! :)

Why not think about making stained glass mosaics which will be viewed on both sides and catch ...»
light for a beautiful display. You could lay out glass sections on a paper template and design a landscape scene. Maybe more modern or Frank Lloyd Wright-tish. Glue-All from Elmers dries clear as long as the glass pieces are not too large; this adhesive works well for me.
