  • All the rustic bling makes for a fun focal point in the backyard. The white planter box use to be a firetruck parts crate. A couple pallets offer a front step and side walkway. A rusty old vintage headboard became a gate. 9
  • The before. The lovely cow mural was hand painted by a friend, which now is safely in storage until it lands a new location. 4
  • Odds and sods were used to create a door. The wreath is made from canning jar lids. 6
  • Junky relics chime in well with bright red geraniums. 2

A rustic shed made from reclaimed lumber

A little green house in my backyard received a facelift. The plastic was replaced with repurposed fencing boards captured from another's burn pile, a few barn windows, then the decorating ...»
began. Junky relics were added to create a fun focal point which now houses firewood.

This shed is part of a 4 part series showing the entire build. Lots more to see!

  • The first color try. I didn't like it so I took it back in and they fixed it for free. 1
  • The sign. I cut out letters and taped them on. Then I lightly sprayed with black paint. It took several coats.
  • After the right number of coats of paint I removed the paper letters.
  • The final sign after the white touch up. 1
  • Hanging the sign. We secured it right into the brick. The trim on the metal door was screwed right in too.
  • The final result!! 4

Father's Day gift for my geeky husband.

I converted our outside, basement door into the Tardis. (The time machine from Doctor Who) It's the perfect entrance for his "man cave". I had some help with the power tools and details.

Please step away from the tools!

Great, you got the door closed but privacy usually requires no gaping holes for people to look through!! Ha!

Decoupage Desk Project

This desk was black when I bought it for $35. It was too dark so I painted it white, then I painted it "Tortilla" by Martha Stewart Living. Never really liked it and was about to toss it. ...»
Giving it one more try, I painted it Old Ochre by Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and decoupaged the drawer fronts and part of the desktop. It's now my fave piece of furniture in the house. I realize decoupage furniture isn't for everyone, but hubby and I love it. See more of this project at my blog. #Bestof2012

An Old Ladder Re-purposed as a Bed Canopy

I've always dreamed of having a canopy bed...somewhere along the way it switched from "pink and frilly" to "neutral and junky". I am very happy with how it turned out. ...»

My engineer husband very securely attached the brackets to the walls and the old ladder to the brackets...no worries :) Then I draped 2 matching painters drop cloths over 2 of the rungs of the ladder. That's it...easy!
