Front porch, railing and rock work were redone after a snow storm collapsed the roof over the porch. Log Cabin is c. 1922 Craftsman Bungalow in Lake Tahoe CA Original windows, hand hew doors and knotty pine interior.
This desk was black when I bought it for $35. It was too dark so I painted it white, then I painted it "Tortilla" by Martha Stewart Living. Never really liked it and was about to toss it.
Giving it one more try, I painted it Old Ochre by Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and decoupaged the drawer fronts and part of the desktop. It's now my fave piece of furniture in the house. I realize decoupage furniture isn't for everyone, but hubby and I love it. See more of this project at my blog. #Bestof2012
I've always dreamed of having a canopy bed...somewhere along the way it switched from "pink and frilly" to "neutral and junky". I am very happy with how it turned out.
My engineer husband very securely attached the brackets to the walls and the old ladder to the brackets...no worries :) Then I draped 2 matching painters drop cloths over 2 of the rungs of the ladder. That's it...easy!
