  • This quirky, double wide sized pallet wood chair is all decked out, ready for a great summer read.
  • Two pallets, 4 legs and two armrest boards are really all it took. So easy! The trick is to ensure you find two pallets that are similar in size.
  • Let's add more quirk to make it totally yours! This signboard was used as an armrest. Note how wide the board is... perfect for my coffee cup. Priorities here...
  • This leg has an antique level attached. This project is a little like 'Where's Waldo's Wild Additions?'
  • Pallet markings were celebrated by placing them in prominent places. Coffee bean sacks acting like large pillow cases were just tucked in place. No sewing required. 2
  • For the legs, a little bracing was required inside the pallet so the leg had something to stabilize against.
  • Tell me that isn't one big cool chair to curl up in! But let's add some comfort...
  • 5" foam cut to size (new from a foam shop) was key for the ultimate comfort.
  • This is a pallet SOFA I made last year, decked out in total bohemian style craziness. The build is much more size customized: http://www.funkyjunkinteriors.net/2011/08/how-i-built-pallet-sofa-part-2.html

pallets and little more. I kid you not! This is the easiest build in the world and you'll wonder why you didn't think of it first!

  • There's only one chance to make a first impression. I want people to feel loved and welcome when they come to my front door. 2
  • There's nothing like a rocker on the front porch to encourage friend to sit a spell and visit.
  • I painted a rug on the floor, easy to do and it adds the perfect splash of fun to the porch!

A Cozy Spot on the Front Porch

For me it's all about making my home lovely on a budget. Some thrift store chairs, flea market finds and a bit of paint turned my front porch into a place I want to sit every morning and ...»
watch the sun rise.

Mason Jar Bathroom Storage

Easy way to add storage to your bathroom. When the mason jars are dirty, slip them out, wash them in the dishwasher then put them back. Love it for my kids' toothbrushes! Full tutorial ...»

ps: I accidentally posted this under my personal account so if you see the same project/same pics on Lolly Jane's account, that's where is was SUPPOSED to be, lol (:

  • How my craft room look so far. It's coming along nicely! It contains a thrifted vintage drafting table, a DIY card catalog, and a thrifted shelf. 4
  • This $5.00 shelf from the thrift store was lined in inexpensive contact paper from Target, and mod podged to the back. Love it!
  • I love the way this drafting table is perpendicular to the wall. It helps to create a more definite crafting area back in this part fo the room, since hubby needs the other part for work. 2
  • I flanked the end of the drafting table with this $15 yard sale bookcase that I painted while. It holds all my sewing, knitting, and home improvement books. 2
  • 4
  • Cute little $1.00 thrift store cup, which sits on my drafting table.
  • It can hold any scissors or markers.
  • The shelf was painted and distressed and waxed. I lined it with contact paper from Target that cost only $5.00 for a big roll! Cheaper than scrapbook paper or wallpaper. And I upcycle old tin cans to hold suppies. 2
  • On the drafting table, I'm using a vintage shoe shine kit to hold paper and supplies. Love it! Only $6.00 4
  • This is what it looked like for a whole year after we moved in: brown, ugly, and cold. AND a cluttered desk.
  • The room just got messier and messier!
  • I finally had to do something about it. I wanted turquoise! So I got primin'.
  • Now that the furniture placement is figured out, the next step is setting up the Ikea Expedit bookcase to hide all the clutter of crafting supplies!
  • There's no way I could leave this Ikea Expedit like this! The baskets are so expensive, though--like $30 each! I'll find an inexpensive alternative. 4
  • Here's the BEFORE of the shelf that is hanging above the drafting table. Only $5.00 at the thrift store!
  • I painted it with Annie Sloan Old White chalk paint. 2
  • My $40 sewing cabinet found at the thrift store. 2
  • This $40 thrift store sewing cabinet converts to a full-sized table, and my machine pops out the top :) I can't wait to paint it! 1

My Thrifted Craft Room

All the pieces of furniture in my craft room have come from the thrift store or bought second-hand! It's still "IN PROGRESS" but I will be finished soon! Here's a look at its progress and how inexpensive it's was to furnish!

How to create a Mason Jar Patio Chandelier

I always lusted after the hanging ladders in Pottery Barn displays. Since I don't like to spend Pottery Barn prices on things I can make myself, I decided to wait it out and find a ladder ...»
that I could work with for my patio. When I found an old ladder at an antiques vendor booth, I knew it had to be mine. I brought it home finagled my husband into hanging it for me using lengths of chain and "C" clamps attached to our patio roof. Then I used simple hooks screwed into the wood of the ladder to hang the mason jars. I added some sand and tealights, and a Moravian star as a centerpiece.

Altogether between the ladder, the mason jars and the star lantern I think I might have formed a trifecta of perfection. :)

When I'm not entertaining I take the mason jars down from the ladder and sit them on the table in case a strong wind blows through. Don't want glass on my patio!

The ladder "chandelier" is one of my most favorite projects ever, especially since it is what drew me into the Hometalk community over a year ago. I happened upon a post here while randomly searching the internet. I shared my idea with you guys in someone else's thread and it received such great feedback that I stayed and never left! :) The awesome Miriam I might have had a lot to do with that! So, thanks! #Bestof2012
