Sometimes I plant herbs not to be used but just because they have pretty flowers. I love the way they smell when the sun hits them. When you pick out flowers, keep herbs in mind. They are ...»

Saved it from the landfill!

Bring back to life an old plastic planter for little to no money. I am always needing planters and I found this one in the dumpster. Still it perfect shape except it needed a little TLC. And today being Earth Day, It thought I would share another way to reuse/recycle/repurpose! This is one of those little projects that is almost "too easy" to post about! LOL

How to cut Herbs

Now that Spring is in the air I thought I would share a post on how to cut your herbs properly so you can create nice full plants all summer long! Very simple and you will love how your herbs bush out and produce more leaves!

of the season it a great way to get your seeds for next year! If you wait to cut your basil when a flower blooms, your basil will very slowly get a little bit on the bitter side. If you snip it at the bud before flowering it will not effect the flavor in the long run. We grow herbs for a living so, we need our plants to produce the maximum amount of healthy leaves so, that is why we cut early. We need the plants to bush out as much as posiible without using any chemicals. But, if cutting your basil at the budding stage as you do produces the amount of basil you need that's awesome. I bet I would envy your length of a growing season out there in Texas!

I decided to make a simple wreath for our door but, I didn't want to spend a dime. I gathered up stuff I had around the house and got busy.
