How to Build Headboard Bench

I found this old headboard for $15 and knew I wanted to turn it into a bench!
It started out like this.
I cut the footboard in half and removed two additional inches from each side.
I used a Kreg Jig to drill pilot holes for attaching my side pieces to the headboard.
I attached the sides like this.
I cut pine 1X4s for the seat and the piece across the front.
After painting, I added the word "Welcome".
Perfect finishing touch!
I sanded the edges a bit and gave it a coat of wax.
Love the result.

I think all these Headboards are Great. I would love to do anything like this but I’m old and weak. If I had someone with a strong arm and hand, I would jump right in to some of these things. I really want to do DIY anything. Maybe someday someone will come along that has the same inspiration as I do.
