Who doesn't love a good makeover? Follow me as I give this beautiful wood dresser and mirror a new look in a gorgeous sea side blue with white wax for a high end limed oak look.
Pop over to my blog for more free home decor and furniture tutorials.
I purchased this dresser and tri fold mirror from an estate sale. I love how most elderly folks take such good care of their furniture, the finish was immaculate. It just needed some pizzazz.
The tri fold mirror shows the dresser nearly done as a sneak peek but it is huge and lovely and needs to be painted to match.
Both dresser and mirror were painted in seas side blue from Fusion Mineral Paint. The highly pigmented paint only need one and a half coats over the dark stain for perfect coverage.

Other one of a kind dresser tutorials I have done.
When the paint was dried it was lightly sanded then Fusion's white wax hand rubbed all over to catch in the oak graining which gives the high end limed oak finish.

the original hardware was cleaned up and put back on.
This set is now a drop dead statement piece in a customers bedroom in just the perfect blue they were looking for.

I have never tried the brand of paint you mention but have used a dark navy of another brand. The paint leached surfactants (which I had never heard of before) for a long time. I had to clean the piece over and over again as the only 'cure' for surfactant leaching.

Do you ever have trouble with that issue?

How much paint and wax did you use? I have a similar dresser but will need to order the paint. Thank you.

Do you have the full tutorial for this dresser? I want to update a bedroom set ( dresser, armoire, 2 nightstands) very similar but have no clue how much paint to order, realistic timeframes , etc
