As you can see this couch is perfect for outside, and the fact that I have it since 5 year can really unsure you that it’s a long term DIY.
Here I will show you the evolution in this project and what I have been able to do each year.
Believe me this is the type of project you will enjoy doing in your garden (specially when it bring so much joy in your family) the color really brings another atmosphere at home

To create it, I first started by the back side where I have used 2 big pallets and let me give you some advices if you would like to make one for yourself.
Here is the project from the beginning in 2015 in my new house (but note that I started it since 2012)

1- The first important thing will be to try to get them all made the same
2 -Second thing, as they are made of of pine they could hopefully last long for you as they are treated to be outdoor, you will need a lot of screws to attach them together and also a jigsaw or circular saw (but to be honest a good jig saw can be the only power tool you need).
3 - And the third thing is regarding the cushions you are going to use, I will say go to your local outdoor store and just take the cushions measurement so before starting you’ll have a good overview of the dimensions to take. Here we decided to use  50 by 50 cm cushion which is fitting quite well as you will see at the end of the video
After cutting the bottom part, the thing you will need to do is just fix this back side to the bottom one by using screws… note that as this side was already cuts with the big pallet blocks, I just had to screws using those.
Please note that 90 percent of the wood used in the project is coming from pallets me and my wife found in the street for free.
In this picture I was trying to make a table with the rest of the pallet wood (small pallets measuring around 60 by 50 cm)
then in 2016 with a domino effect table
later in 2016 I decided to create next to the bench a fish pond as my kids wanted to have some fish and you will find above the video I have make for it.
And here we are with my 2017 edition icon ... My little baby

Some of you can really see what's my favorite place at home....
this picture is from 3 days ago and I am very happy with this creation so far, it's so easy to upgrade, change or paint.

Great project, turned out to be such a nice space! In a couple of the photos you have what looks like a temporary /movable flooring. What kind of product is that? I have been looking for something similar for an area outside.

Do you have a filter for your pond?

At the beginning, you talked about using a 50 x 50 mattress that we would see at the end. Unless I'm missing something, I don't see it. Did you decide to not use cushions?
