Planning a wedding and need pricing

My daughter has an idea and I do not have any earthly idea how to calculate how much baby's breath it would take to do something similar to the picture. We would use smaller clumps in Eiffel Tower vases, but I don't want to buy the vases only to find out that baby's breath may not be any cheaper in large quantities than flowers. Not ready to talk to a florist yet. I think this is something I can do.

I have been a florist for many years and it takes a lot of babies breath to get this look. We did many babies breath weddings last summer. Those vases probably have 3-5 bunches each if not more- would need to know the vase opening, but I'd say 5 to get a really full look like that.

A friend ordered her baby's breath from Sams club............don't remember the cost but great savings compared to florist price. Ship date was coordinated with wedding date arrived in perfect condition and on time.

when I was recently looking at flowers, our caterer recommended the bulk flower websites 50flowers and blooms by the box. I wonder if dried baby's breath would be less expensive. you can look at inexpensive craft sites like save on crafts. Good luck and congratulations to your daughter!

Not sure if you are doing the lanterns as well, but those can be pricey too. I recently bought some for an outdoor party. I found some inexpensive ones at Ikea.

I work at a historic wedding venue in NC...I've seen a lot of babies breath this season. The flowers I've seen from Sam's in our area have been less than perfect, but have arrived on time. My suggestion is to use fresh babies breath verses the dried. It's easier to work with and will dry soon enough. Perhaps you can find a source online to purchase used wedding items like the lanterns (which I love) and/or the vases. Also check with rental companies or local wedding rental shops or perhaps even a florist shop. Happy wedding planning.

I saw a picture similar to this for my wedding. After talking to my florist and venue coordinator we ended up using new love baby breath delicately placed inside lanterns (coordinator did it) and it looked beautiful. The look was more intimated and romantic at the same time. I love the outcome. Florist cost was $300 (centerpieces only) and I also used it for the bridal party.

I would go with smaller vases, the guests will not be able to see over those vases. And that will make it so that you need less of the babys breath also. And you might be able to find something plastic that looks like babys breath at the dollar store?

My niece's daughter just got married. Went toSTOP N SHOP grocery store and got flowers. Half the cost. Flowers were beautiful.

There is a place in Nashville TN Called Import Flowers that caters to diy brides. Prices are very reasonable. We have 3 daughters and the last one was married less than a year ago and we were thrilled with the pricing. A bit of a travel for you but cost savings could be enough for it to be worth it. (especially is you get a friend with a some type of enclosed vehicle to pick it up for you the day before) Good luck!

Try costco on line for wholesale flowers. Used them twice now and was very pleased with price and qysioty of the flowers. Now to figure out how many bunches of baby's breath buy local. Buy one vase and go to the florist and buy what you think you will need. Always buy more then you think you will need. Try out your arrangement and see what you think. One thing you should know. Doing your own flowers for a wedding sounds ok until you try to figure out the time line go when you will fit the flower arrangements into the days leading up to the wedding. My suggestion, get a couple of good friends that you know will be happy to help you. Give them a demo of what you want and how to do it. I found it easier to do at the site of the reception, rather then try to transport 10-20 arrangement. Good luck, my arrangement came out beautiful and every loved them.

I actually just went to the florist for the same idea. For 1 tall baby's breath centerpiece of this size it cost $80. I was so surprised on the cost! So I went to another florist for a second opinion and they quoted me even more! The florist explained to me that to achieve this look that a lot of the stem would have to be cut away to create the shape which would result in more steams needed. I thought of making them myself to save on cost but i figured it wasn't worth my time and frustration when I have so many other things to make! Good Luck!~ Stephanie
