This snowman pocket ornament is a great way to re-purpose special clothing into holiday ornaments. I used shirts that my boys wore in our family blending ceremony to make them this year. They are a great way to hide a special gift in the tree too.

Supplies/Materials

  • White Fabric and White Felt, Black Fabric and Felt, Orange Fabric, Red Felt
  • Sewing Machine
  • Charming Circle Template
  • Frixion Pen
  • Downloadable Pattern
  • Long Pins
  • Scissors
  • Black Embroidery Floss
  • 2 Black Buttons
  • Ribbon (6 inches)

Directions:

Use Charming Circle template to cut out two white fabric and two white felt circles.

Pin one fabric circle to one felt circle and make two sets of this.

Cut one inch off the edge of one set of fabric/felt circles.

Sew the sets together leaving an opening in each to flip. Then sew the opening closed.

On the sewn together set that is cut, create a snowman face. Use the free downloadable pattern to create a nose. Sew it to the face. Sew on two black buttons for eyes. Hand stitch a mouth with embroidery floss.

Used the pattern to cut out a hat and a scarf from felt. Add fabric for detail if desired. Sew the hat the top inch of the full sewn together circle set.

Sew the circle sets together leaving the flat top of the one with the face open to create a pocket.

Cut a scarf out of red felt and sew it to the front.

It is so darling looking in from the top!

Sew ribbon to the hat to create a hanger.

Cheers to Making Ornaments from Special Fabrics and Clothing (and to snowmen everywhere….)!
