Revamp an old IKEA lamp into a trendy Aged porcelain vase!

I've been seeing these aged vase lamps everywhere on Instagram & Pinterest. Unfortunately didn't have any other base lamp that I could simply paint over so I decided to flip an old IKEA Lamp base.

Youll need any slim lamp base for this project. Im using an IKEA lamp base you can use any that can easily fit in a gallon water bottle.

An empty 1 gallon water bottle remove all labels.

Make a hole at the bottom of the bottle wide enough for your lamp base to fit through.

Insert the lamp base in the bottle and glue the base together using a strong adhesive.

Lather wood putty all over the bottle and smooth it out to your desired look. I had to do three coats to get rid of the ridges.

Let it dry between coats and once you're happy with the look let it dry overnight.

To make handles youll need air dry clay. You can skip this step if you dont want to add handles.

Roll the air dry clay into two long logs of equal length

bend the logs to take shape of the handles and morph the sides so youll have some surface area to attach with glue once dry.

Attach the handles with super glue and spray paint any color you like.

Finally Rub some dirt to give it that aged look. I would suggest spray painting it with a clear matte top coat.

And this is the final result! Im so happy with the look. These kinda lamps are retailing for hundreds & we just made one costing just about nothing.

Could you do this with any skinny lamp or does it have to be IKEA?
