Hinged Barnwood With Rustic Stained Art

Some of you may have seen the post I did with part one of this project. I did stained artwork of Elk on half of a rustic hinged "door" for a client, MissW. MissW has a camp in a part of PA that is known for its abundance of Elk. They ride their mules up to their camp, so she wanted a piece that would have both of these elements. We decided on putting the Elk on half of this hinged door and the mules (along with her little donkey) on the other half.
The door started out with paint on it, but we wanted to keep that rustic look.
The door started out with paint on it, but we wanted to keep that rustic look.
I sanded the pieces down but needed it more uniform, so we decided on a coat of grey stain. A paint wash would have been easier for me to do my artwork on, but that wasn't the look we were going for.
For the artwork, I used a picture of their donkey and mules and made a collage on PicMonkey. I cropped each of the pics to make headshots of each.
The hardest part for me of this whole project was getting good pictures without glare. I even have "professional" lights, but obviously need to take a class on how to use them!
