Are you renting and want to upgrade your home, or are you a home owner and always changing your mind like me 😜 but you want to try some hint bold or just new?

I wanted to change up the flooring in my laundry room, but I didn’t want to rip out the flooring that I already had because there is not a transition from my kitchen to my laundry room, and to be honest with you, the flooring I have is a great floor, I just wanted something bolder,

so I went on the hunt for something to use and I think I found just that.

So here is what I am starting with, like I said I have great flooring already so don’t come after me 😆 I just wanted a pop of BOLD

To start I swept the entire floor and wiped it, then I moved the washer and dryer over because I wanted to start along this wall first.

Once I had those out of the way I cleaned all of the hidden treasure out from under the dryer 😯

and swept and mopped again. ( you don’t want anything left on your flooring because it can ruin the paper we are applying, even the smallest rocks can tear through)

Now that my floor is as clean as it has ever been, I layer out a strip of the paper and cut it with an extra few inches on each end, then I took some heavy items and placed them on the ends to hold it down whil I lined up the paper and got it into place.

Once you have it how you like it, I recommend starting with a few inches and unrolling a little bit at a time.

I like to press down from the center and smooth to the outer edges.

you will do this until you get all the way to the end.

Now for starting the next roll I recommend overlapping the paper, to line up the pattern I overlapped approximately 2 inches.

This will help so that you don’t get any water underneath, and then when you run into a roll that isn’t perfect (yes that happens 2 of the rolls I bought were slightly off) you won’t have a gap with the other flooring showing through.

I used a wash rag to slide my washer and dryer back into place and then I ended up placing some felt pads underneath them so they won’t damage the new flooring.

What do you think?

I am so beyond happy with how it turned out, this helps give that bold pop that I was looking for.

A few things I would recommend is to take your time, especially when you have OCD and use a bold pattern like this one 😜 (I may have ripped up a few rolls and started over)

I have this exact paper linked on my Instagram if you want it, it is a waterproof one and it has held up great so far.

It is beautiful. You said you are renting? You put peel and stick paper on the floor. After walking on it awhile, it will strongly adhere to the floor. It will be a nightmare trying to remove it when you move.

I love it. But I always wonder, when I see contact paper used on flooring - won't it rip when grit on the bottom of shoes gets rubbed across it?

Wallpaper on the floor??? I would say that won’t last long, but it does make a statement just like you wanted!!
