Housewarming Gift From the Heart

My son-in-law and his wife just purchased their first home near us and we wanted to give them a housewarming gift that would be special for years to come. My son-in-law suggested he could use a desk to hide his laptop in the living room.
Now for some elbow grease.
I spent a few weeks looking for just the right desk, but I knew it when I found it. It was a badly neglected cherrywood secretary desk about an hour away. Easy day trip!
Lots of nooks and crannies to paint.
It was pretty musty, so first thing to do was scrub inside and out and give the entire piece a good base coat.
Base coat applied to entire desk.
I wanted to modernize the handles and add some pizazz to make this a showcase piece so I stripped it down and added some trim.
Finished House Warming Gift!
My son-in-law and his wife loved it. It was such a joy to create a piece of furniture that has a history and heritage to it that can be passed down to future generations.
