How to Add Glass to Cabinets

Learn how to add glass to kitchen cabinets using silicone. I used frames from Fast Cabinet Doors and added glass from a local glass supplier.

Screw in your hardware and drill holes for knobs before you begin. It’s much easier to do this before the glass is inserted. Make sure the cabinet frame is painted and completely dry before you start.

Use painters tape to protect areas around the frame you do not want to get silicone on.

Do the same with the glass. I gave the local glass shop where I bought the glass from the dimensions I needed and they cut the glass for me. They offered to install the glass for me for an additional charge but I wanted to do it myself.

Place the glass on the frame. It should settle into the indented area. Apply silicone between the glass and the wood.

Dip your finger in a glass of water and spread it along the bead of silicone to smooth it out. If you have trim to place over the seam where the glass meets the cabinet frame you can add it on now with more silicone applied to the back of the trim.

Let the cabinets dry for 24 hours, hang them to the cabinet bases.
