Hide That Ugly Laundry Area

As a renter, I couldn't make the kind or changes I would like to this laundry room, but having to pass by this unsightly mess on the way to the bathroom all the time was hard on my eyeballs! I got some advice from my nephew the contractor on how to hang a curtain in such a space and he recommended the Ikea wire curtain holder.
Yikes!
Lucky for me all the ugly stuff, washer dryer, tub, water heater and vacuum are along one wall. In the foreground is an open shelving unit that I decided to leave as is for now.
I bought a twin size sheet set and used the fitted sheet to make my bottom flounce. I made a drawing of it, because I just could not get a photo of the whole thing. To make the flounce, first I cut along the diagonals of the fitted sheet,
then cut all around to be left with four pieces.
Then I sewed as many of the four pieces as I needed for the width of the curtain. As it turned out, one long and one short piece were enough.

The measurements worked out that I was able to use the whole flat sheet without altering it. I sewed the flat sheet along the elastic of the fitted sheet. It was tricky keeping the elastic from pulling the work, but it turned out ok.
Rather than take the whole thing down, I was able to sew the bottom hem in situ by placing my sewing machine on the dryer!
Hanging the curtain was fun. I installed an Ikea wire curtain rod.
Clip rings
I tried using these clip rings but discovered that they were too long, so I took the little clips off, and strung them along the curtain wire.
Using the little clips I was able to hang the curtain and make pleats at the same time!
The finished product hides all that stuff and...
is  really easy to pull across anytime I need to get at the laundry!

What are those two things you attached to the ceiling and where did you find them. I have never seen anything like those before.

I love it - especially the flounce! Wherever did you find those sheets?

That turned out beautifully! I love how you used the fitted sheet. My family has long repurposed flat sheets for curtains...who would've thought to use the fitted for some extra detail? Great work!

Good job! I especially love that you made pleats with the clips! How about making another curtain for the pantry shelving unit as well? I mean, the first one turned out so cute...!

Thanks! Well, we've moved out of that apt. so no need to cover up the pantry! I re-purposed that curtain into two curtains for our new bunkie.
